OpenRail/Roads designs use a large number of referenced DGNs. The current workflow to modify a referenced item requires either opening the file that the referenced item is drawn in or finding and activating the reference that the element is drawn in. Depending on how deep the element is within references (nested, etc), finding the correct reference takes more time than it should.
This workflow can be significantly improved by adding a feature that, whenever a person selects an item belonging to a reference, a pop-up box appears when the user hovers over that selected item. This pop-up would include a button labeled "Activate Reference." Clicking this button would activate the reference associated with the selected item, regardless of how deeply nested it may be, allowing the user to edit items drawn in referenced DGNs easily.
