Drainage nodes currently utilize an Elevation Reference and a Baseline Reference. It would be better to split the Baseline Reference into two separate references, 1) "Station Reference", and 2) "Offset Reference". In practice, this would allow a node to be set at a specific construction baseline station, and its offset could be tied to an object in a corridor, such as an edge of pavement. With the current arrangement, if the roadway design changes the edge of pavement offset, the drainage node won't shift to the new offset. Every node would have to be manually moved to accommodate a change in road design. With the proposed arrangement, the drainage node could maintain its offset to the edge of pavement and shift automatically with the change in road design.

This can be accomplished using Civil Accudraw's Station/Offset tool. By default, the station reference and the offset reference are the same but you can have the two be different elements. I hope this article helps. Note that it is possible to set the Common Reference option to "no".
