Proposed System Improvement:
Based on the client's feedback regarding their workflow using OpenRoads Designer (ORD) 2023 (23.0.1.11), the following improvement is suggested to enhance the user experience when opening files in a new session:
Current Behavior:
When users right-click on an element and select "Open in new session," a "No WorkSet Alert" is displayed, indicating that the system cannot locate the active Workspace/WorkSet. If users cancel, they are redirected to the splash page, losing their context and the file they intended to open.
Proposed Improvement:
Modify the "No WorkSet Alert" behavior to include options similar to the "Mismatch Alert" dialog. Users should be able to choose between:
1. Use Active Workspace/WorkSet: Automatically apply the current active Workspace/WorkSet to the new session.
2. Open with No WorkSet: Proceed with opening the file without associating it with a Workspace/WorkSet.
3. Choose a different Workset from folder.
This improvement will:
- Prevent users from losing their current context.
- Simplify the workflow by retaining connectivity to the original file.
- Manage multiple sessions effectively.
Implementing this change would streamline the process, making the "Open in new session" feature more user-friendly and functional.

Not something the OpenRoads team can control. This is a duplicate idea. The other was put into the MicroStation Ideas.
